Wolves have achieved 5 out of 6 wins in the Betsafe-LKL championship, and head coach Rimas Kurtinaitis talked about the team’s newcomer Juan Gomez de Liano.

Gomez de Liano was registered for the game against Šiauliai but did not appear on the court. Alytus won the game 89:78.

R. Kurtinaitis said that the Filipino made a positive impression on him, but integrating him into the team’s schemes will take some time.

“We had him in practice yesterday, but we couldn’t use him fully in contact because he hadn’t passed the medical examination yet,” Kurtinaitis said at the post-game press conference. „We didn’t want him to get injured and then, God forbid, the contract goes into effect and we would have an injured person.”

“Today we got the answer, I registered him, but you know, it wasn’t logical to throw a man in the court after he had just arrived.”

“I liked him in training. This week is such that we don’t have time to train as much as we want. I think this week will be the minimum for him. We will see later. He is young, aggressive, has a good body, with a good shot. I think he will be a pit bull on defense and offense.”

Wolves will play two more games this week. On Wednesday, the King Mindaugas Cup qualifier against Prienai Labas GAS, and on Saturday, Betsafe-LKL will see a mouth-watering clash with Vilnius Rytas.
